In Season 19, we're updating the Racer Progression system. Currently, when upgrading your Racers on higher levels, the power boost you get out of it is not that noticeable per each level. With this update we're aiming to make each upgrade feel meaningful, plus we want you to be able to upgrade your favorite Racers to their ultimate state giving them even better stats!
With that in mind, there are a few improvements coming!
Star System replacing Levels
First, we are replacing Levels with the clearer Star system.
- Every Racer can now be leveled up from 0 to 6 Stars.
- Every time you upgrade a Racer, you're giving them a Star Fragment. 5 Star Fragments = New Star for your Racer!
- To upgrade Racers you will need a new currency which is replacing Upgrade Coins.
To make this change a bit smoother, with the launch of the update, we'll be upgrading all your Racers to the next Star each.
For example, if you now have a Level 32 Racer (equal to 3 Stars and 1 Star Fragment in the new system), they will be upgraded to 4 Stars (equal to Level 40 in the current system) when the update launches. Note that Racers at Level 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 won't be upgraded to the next Stars, and they will remain at Star 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

New currency replacing Upgrade Coins
With this update, we're discontinuing the Upgrade Coins and introducing a new currency to upgrade you Racers.
IMPORTANT NOTICE! Upgrade Coins will be converted into Tokens at an adjusted rate with the launch of Season 19 on April 9. The amount of Tokens you can get via conversion is capped at 2,000.
The conversion rate is 1 Upgrade Coin = 0.024 Token, with the max amount of Tokens you can get capped at 2,000. With that in mind, try to make the most out of your Upgrade Coins before Season 19!
Consider the following before the update:
- Upgrade your Racers to Level 30-40 - currently, this is an optimal spot in terms of Level / Stats ratio.
- Avoid trying to get to Level 50 before the update, unless you're already close to it; these are your main competitive Racers; or you need Level 50 for an ongoing event.
- Spread your Upgrade Coins between multiple Racers to benefit from them getting to next Stars after the update.
How the Stats are increased
With the Star system in place, Stats will now be distributed in a different way.
- When upgrading a Racer from the first to the fourth Star Fragments, they will be getting either Acceleration, Combat, Handling, or Boost bonus plus a small increase in Speed each time they get a new Star Fragment.
- When upgrading a Racer to the new Full Star, they will always get a significant boost to all of the four stats plus a large increase in Speed.
6th Star giving More Power
A current Racer at Level 50 has overall the same power as the same Racer at 5 Stars after the update. But now every Racer can be upgraded even further - to the ultimate 6th Star!
Upgrading your Racer to the 6th Star will significantly increase their Stats, especially the ones that weren't that high before. For example, when upgrading a Defender to 6th Star, you will see their Speed & Acceleration grow faster than already high Combat stat.
Prepare for races faster than ever, and get your Racers to the highest stats possible!
How many Shards & Currency to upgrade Racers?
With the update, the amount of Racer Shards and New Coins needed to upgrade Racers will change.
Check this table to see how many Racer Shards you'll need to upgrade a Racer to different Stars:

As you can see, to get your Racer from 0 to 5 Stars, you'll still need 200 Racer Shards total, however now the progression is more balanced: you will need more Racer Shards in early progression, and less Shards to get to Star 4 and 5 compared to current Level 40 and 50. The new 6th star will require 60 additional Racer Shards.
Now let's take a look at how many of the New Currency Coins are needed to upgrade Racers:

As an example, if you're upgrading a Racer from 5 Stars to 5 Stars & 1 Star Fragment, you'll need 10 Racer Shards and 1000 New Currency Coins.
To upgrade any Racer from 0 to max 6 Stars you'll need 260 Racer Shards and 26,000 New Currency Coins in total.
Supercharge & 6th Star
Supercharge feature is not going anywhere, and it will still be available for Racers with 5 Stars. You are free to Supercharge your Racer at any moment after they get to 5 Stars.
Supercharge and Upgrade your favorite Racers to the 6th Star to unlock their true potential!
