In Season 22, we're introducing Augments, a new type of item that you can equip to your Racers to gain various bonuses and effects during races.

How Augments Work

Similar to Crew Members, Augments are equipped in special Augment Slots. Augments are not Racer-specific, so once unlocked, they can be used with any Racer.

Each Racer has six Augment Slots. While Augments come in different Rarities, every Augment occupies 1 Slot. As you upgrade your Racers, you unlock more Augment Slots for them.

As you unlock new Augments, you can experiment with different gameplay mechanics and enhance your Racers in new ways.

What Augments Do

Each Augment has a unique effect that influences a different aspect of gameplay, making every race more varied and, at times, unpredictable!

There are two main types of Augments:

• Stat Augments.
• Augments with special effects.

Stat Augments increase one Stat while decreasing another. For example, an Augment might increase Acceleration while decreasing Handling. Stat Augments also come in different Rarities, with higher-Rarity Augments having a greater impact on Stats.

Augments with special effects can introduce entirely new racing experiences. Some of their effects include:

• Performing a certain number of Aerial Stunts grants a power-up.
• Fully restoring Nitro and temporarily increasing Top Speed when crossing the starting line in last place.
• Unlocking a second Skill Slot.
• Granting additional Event, MPL, or Ranked points (different Augments grant different types of points).

And many more!

Upgrading Augments

Some Augments can be upgraded up to Tier 5. An Augment is unlocked after you collect 10 of its Shards, with additional Shards required for each upgrade. As an Augment is upgraded, its effect becomes stronger or remains active for longer.

Some Augments do not have Tiers, and their effects do not change. These Augments require 50 Shards to unlock and are fully upgraded as soon as they are obtained.
