With Season 18 we're introducing two new features:
- Ranked - a new way to compete with other players.
- Grand Prix - a new type of a time-limited event.
We’ve prepared a summary of these features for you to get ready!
Ranked
What is Ranked system?
Ranked is a ladder-type system that ranks players based on how good they race in Solo multiplayer. You get points when reaching the top 3 in a race.
To score Ranked points and move up the Leagues you must race with a Diamond or above Racer (MPL 26 or above). Winning with higher MPL racers will grant you bonus points. The amount of points you earn determines the position and what League you're in.
Note, that when losing a race, you lose Ranked points as well! So try to win as many races as you can to progress to a higher League.
Additionally, you will be getting the same amount of points regardless of the win streak.
What are Leagues?
The Ranked system is divided into seven Leagues - brackets containing players of the similar skill level:
Rookie → Expert → Master → Grandmaster → Challenger → Legend → Unstoppable
Each League has a certain amount of points that needs to be earned and maintained in order to stay there. The better League you're in, the better rewards you'll get.
The seventh League, called Unstoppable, is the top League, and only a certain number of players can be there at the same time. In the Unstoppable League, your reward depends on the position you are in, so try to get even more points, once you enter the top League.
Is the Ranked system permanent or time-limited?
Ranked is divided into seasons. When a season ends, you receive the rewards according to the League and position you achieved by the end of the season.
For the first few times, once the Ranked season ends, the score will be fully reset for all players.
In the future, when each season ends, only some of the points you acquired will be deducted. We're still fine-tuning the system, and the amount of points deducted may vary for the first few Ranked seasons.
How are the rewards distributed?
When a Ranked season ends, you'll get the rewards according to the League you were in at the end of the season. With the first Ranked season, you will receive the rewards for only the League you were in at the end of the season. We’re monitoring and refining the system, and this may change in the future.
If you were in the top Unstoppable League, then you may receive additional reward depending on your position inside the League.
What happens if two players have the same amount of points?
The player who got that amount of points first, will be higher in the rankings.
Does playing with bots get you points?
Any race in Solo multiplayer will either grant or deduct Ranked points based on your performance, including races with bots.
Grand Prix
What is Grand Prix?
Grand Prix is a new type of a time-limited competition featuring a set of Solo Leaderboard events. The better lap times you get, the better your rewards are!
What type of rewards are there?
You'll get rewards for your position in Leaderboards, so try to complete the races as fast as you can! The first Grand Prix is set to only feature Leaderboards rewards, while future Grand Prix may also feature Milestone rewards.
How many tries do I get?
The first Grand Prix event is planned to have unlimited tries, so you can perfect your time as many times as you like. Future events may have a certain number of tries available.
Which Racers can I play with in Grand Prix?
Different events require different Racers to participate. The more Racers you have, the more Grand Prix events you'll be able to take part in.
Are there bots in the Grand Prix events?
Yes, Grand Prix is made out of Solo events with bots on the tracks.
