The “Looking for Trouble” season, inspired by Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, brings a swashbuckling adventure and new content to the game, including an expansion of the already available “A Pirate’s Life” racing environment!

Get up to speed with all the new content arriving in Season 9 below and catch up with the additional improvements we made in our most recent Community Pit Stop.

4 NEW PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN-INSPIRED RACERS

Racers Captain Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, Tia Dalma and Will Turner are revving up their engines to take you on a race for the horizon!

Captain Hector Barbossa is a Brawler Class Racer, Davy Jones is a Defender, Tia Dalma is a Trickster, and Will Turner is a Speedster Class Racer. 

Details of how to unlock each of our 4 seasonal Racers are listed below.

• Davy Jones will be unlockable via the premium tier of the Golden Pass Part 1*(and via the shop after Part 1)
• Captain Hector Barbossa will be unlockable via the premium tier of the Golden Pass Part 2*
• Tia Dalma will be unlockable via the Season Tour in both Parts
• Will Turner will be unlockable via the free tier of the Golden Pass in both Parts

*Requires Golden Pass Credit or purchase of €9,99/$9.99 or equivalent in local currency

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN-INSPIRED RACERS UNIQUE SKILLS

CAPTAIN HECTOR BARBOSSA – THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL

• Passive: Barbossa starts the race with a curse that makes him invulnerable but slower. The curse can be lifted by collecting cursed coins, making him recover full speed but losing invulnerability.
• Normal Activation: Several skeleton hands appear on the racetrack in front of Barbossa, slowing opponents down on contact and generating a cursed coin.
• Charged Activation: Skeleton hands spawn around Barbossa for an average period of time, slowing opponents that get close to him and generating a cursed coin for Barbossa.

DAVY JONES – UNLEASH THE KRAKEN

• Normal Activation: Davy Jones calls forth a very small number of tentacles. The tentacles appear right in front of him one at a time, giving him a push and stunning opponents.
• Charged Activation: Davy Jones calls forth a very small number of tentacles. They appear in waves, stunning opponents and giving him a push if he drives over them.

TIA DALMA – TRUE FORM

• Normal Activation: Tia Dalma gains a shield of crabs for a moderate time, which extends to any racer she touches. When she grants a shield, she collects a Piece of Eight. After collecting Nine Pieces of Eight, Tia Dalma adopts her true form as goddess Calypso, creating a whirlpool around herself that pushes opponents away. 
• Charged Activation: Tia Dalma channels the power of the sea to generate boost fuel for a moderate time. Whenever she touches a Racer, she grants them long-lasting fuel generation, and collects a Piece of Eight. After collecting Nine Pieces of Eight, Tia Dalma adopts her true form as goddess Calypso, creating a whirlpool around herself that pushes opponents away.

WILL TURNER – HONEST PIRATE

• Normal Activation: Will adopts a counteroffensive stance for a moderate time, guarding him from one attack. When it ends, he ripostes with a push. If an opponent is caught in the push, the skill is refunded. 
• Charged Activation: Will adopts an agile stance for a moderate time. Whenever he overtakes an opponent or is overtaken himself, he pushes himself forward.

A PIRATE’S LIFE 

Season 9 brings an expansion of the already available “A Pirate’s Life” racing environment that includes Tia Dalma’s Shack, the treasure cave, an underwater area with sunken ships and Fort Charles!

MID-SEASON RACERS 

Two villainous new Racers are ready to join your Roster, Cruella De Vil from Disney’s One Hundred and One Dalmatian and Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. 

Cruella De Vil will be a Speedster Class Racer and Maleficent a Trickster.

CRUELLA DE VIL - DRIVING OBSESSION

• Normal Activation: Cruella honks her horn for a very short time, creating sonic waves that stun opponents and destroy obstacles.
• Charged Activation: Cruella's kart transforms for a moderate time and spews fire. While transformed, she gains a speed boost and stuns any opponents she clashes with.

MALEFICENT - MISTRESS OF EVIL

• Normal Activation: Maleficent raises her staff and calls down a number of lightning bolts from the sky on the track in front of her, stunning any racers hit. Each time her unique skill stuns a racer, she gains a flame. 
• Charged Activation: When she gets 6 flames, her Dragon Form is activated temporarily. In her Dragon form, flames engulf Maleficent and her kart, which transforms into an invulnerable dragon flying over the track at increased speed (autopilot). If there are any racers in her path, she breathes fire in front of her, stunning any racers hit by the flames.
